Action Thrust I commercial fitness flooring installation

Arizona Hardwood Floor Supply has been Arizona’s custom wood flooring specialists for over 30 years, installing and servicing all types of wood flooring for residential and commercial construction and renovation projects throughout the Valley.

In addition to residential and commercial flooring we also install sports flooring for a variety of industries such as exercise & fitness, basketball and racket ball courts and gym flooring.

Sports flooring system

No stranger to commercial sports flooring installation we installed Action Thrust I with 25/32” x 2 ¼” 3rd grade maple for Aspire Fitness in Chandler, AZ. Aspire Fitness is located in what was previously LA Fitness which was built in the late 90’s and closed its doors in 2014.

Rising to the challenge

Upon inspection for the hardwood flooring we found that the floor had not been sanded in years and there was an area of the floor that had been removed from the corner of the gym where water damage had occurred due to a roof drain.

Once we were released to start the sports flooring restoration we laced in the new hardwood flooring to fix the area. In addition we started the sanding process, stained the jump circles, sealed the floor and striped the basketball and volleyball lines.

Hardwood floor lacing

Floor lacing is a method used to adjoin and match a new area of wood flooring with an existing hardwood floor. Once installed and stained the newly installed floor boards will blend in with the existing flooring.

Water and hardwood flooring don’t mix well

When we returned the following Monday to prep the sports floor for the graphic art work we noticed a water issue again which should not had occurred since the roof had been repaired from the previous water damage. Over the weekend there was a storm that had passed by us and brought rain to areas of the valley. Yep, you guessed it the roof leak wasn’t fixed properly.

Once the leak was fixed again we removed the flooring in the area that received significant damage. From there we placed fans under the hardwood floor to dry the moisture out. This process took about 2 weeks before we could return to reinstall the area for the second time as well the floor had to be sanded again.
